Early in the morning, Elk can often be seen walking through the RV & Camping areas, and Deer, Turkey and other wildlife are plentiful. A fox makes its home nearby…
In our little slice of heaven, our campground sits remotely in pristine and sacred lands between the Navajo and Zuni Reservations, just two miles down the road from world class travel destination, El Morro National Monument. The pool of water at El Morro’s base made it an important stop before beginning further explorations West. Many conquistadors and explorers passed through the area, and Coronado’s name is carved in what is known today as Inscription Rock.
Possibly the only Gay Camping venue in NW New Mexico, El Morro celebrates diversity and is home to many eclectic souls. From small theater productions, to open mics, drumming circles and more, El Morro offers a warm welcome to its visitors. Ask about live music events offered during summer months across the street at the Old School Art Gallery.
And your campsite is just a few steps away from a hearty breakfast at The Ancient Way Café, known as one of the best restaurants in New Mexico. All pastries are fresh and baked by our own staff. The Café is open till 5:00 each day, with later service on Friday and Saturday nights for special meals. (Reservations suggested). The café is closed on Wednesdays.
Give us a call if you would like to know more about our offerings for the Gay community, and to learn about seasonal events. We are open year-round, though winters can be brisk and snowfall is unpredictable. We recommend Cabin or RV Stays during the colder months. Cabins can be booked by clicking the Book Now Button at the upper right of the webpage.
